1
egg equals to 1 life, it is as simple as 1 plus 1 equals to 2, but yet
meaningful to sea turtle’s population.
Recently, we have visited the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
headquarters for a meeting. Coincidently, we found a very meaningful T-shirt
design which is closely related to our campaign. It is very simple, with a
simple equation yet a polite color. This little thing just caught our
attention.
‘Each
turtle egg contains a life’ is the tagline for the
T-shirt. It is very simple and straight forward, but many people do not take
action or even go against it. The turtle egg is the beginning of a sea turtle’s
life. Some people ignore the importance of a turtle’s life just because it
hasn’t been born as a ‘physical turtle’ which has eyes, fins and shell.
Somehow, isn’t all lives the same despite its shape and sizes. Turtle eggs are
something that have been lay by the mother turtle, and it is already the
beginning of a sea turtle’s life. We should take care of it. Selling and consuming
sea turtle’s egg is the same as killing sea turtle, which does not bring any
excuses like it hasn’t been born.
Through
the concept of our campaign, we insert phones, laptop and tablets into the
equation. As we are inserting more things into the equation, the outcome would
be better. It is always a problem for kind-hearted people to reach out their
hand to something that they care about, because it is beyond what they could
do. That is why the community is exploring more and more ways to tighten up the
gap for this two parties, like making shortcuts for them. And thus, our
collaboration of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College with Microsoft and WWF is
one of the ways for people to reach out their hands for something that they
care about, just as the sea turtles. Even though we could not stay at the beach
or volunteer to protect the turtles or eggs, we could still do something within
our ability. For this time, donate old phones, laptop and gadgets.
Everything
starts with a simple equation like 1 Egg equals to 1 Life. When you are adding
more elements into it, the outcome may just be beyond your expectation and
could be better. Let’s make the equation to be more meaningful and don’t
hesitate to reach out your hand.
We should always do the right things, rather
than doing things right.
